Quite frankly, I do not wish to use the word celebrity. Advisor, guru or teacher will be much more appropriate. But since many people – especially those internet marketing newbies – saw and worshipped those gurus that way, that is how I defined those gurus.

Because if they are really earning a lot of money online and helping others to achieve the same success, they are not any different from celebrities be it in entertainment or sports who would have done the same thing given their financial status and independence.

Now the question is as the title asks.

What does it take to be an affiliate marketing celebrity? How do you define those 3 words affiliate marketing celebrity?

As I mentioned before in my last article on affiliate marketing, the word affiliate is another term for internet marketer by definition. By action, affiliate marketing means promoting online merchants for commission. Unless people want to know more on how they can benefit, I will give them those 2 sentences as my answers.

But affiliate marketing celebrity is another entity. He or she is someone who not only promotes for commission but also as a goodwill of helping others to solve their problems. Problems of not just making money online but also in other niches like cooking, dating, managing marriages, handling children, golf, improving memory skills, weight loss etc.

These people can be their family members, friends, relationships or those they know online like forums or social media such as Facebook or Twitter. So long as they have problems and he or she is able to identity the root causes and recommend appropriate and applicable solutions, he or she deserves to be an affiliate marketing celebrity even if their income is not as big as those entertainment or sporting celebrities.

You probably wonder, why am I saying this?

Well, the reasons are very obvious from 2 perceptions; You and the people.

Firstly when people have problems and you give them solutions they needed at the right time and time, they will naturally see you as a hero. The solutions can be your products or other merchants.

Secondly as Eben Pagan pointed out in his Altitude Training program via Youtube some years ago, people do not like to give money without getting any value in return. But if you can recommend solutions to their problems, you are giving them your value indirectly. Whether you get paid or not at that point of time, you can still be very successful and wealthy eventually. They may not buy today or will eventually do so if you continue helping them.

Another saying that I like to quote is from Zig Ziglar. That is you can have everything you ever want if you help enough people to get what they want first.

Thirdly you need to be focused on what you should do to succeed. There are many affiliate programs out there with each creator claiming his system to be best and make thousands of dollars. You just need 1 proven system, learn and apply from there. Too many marketers feel themselves getting distracted into buying the so-called latest hyped up systems and ended up spending money rather than earning.

Last but not least, you need to communicate with people online. This will be very handly when you are new and need advice on what to do to earn. The same goes for possible joint ventures, interviews or just inviting people to subscribe to your list. This is where forums and web 2.0 social media like Facebook and Twitter come into picture.
